Beef Tips and Rice Slow Cooker With Sour Cream
09/17/2003
This is a WONDERFUL recipe! Brand sure yous do these five things, however: 1. Employ "Condensed Golden Mushroom" soup. The regular Cream of Mushroom doesn't have the larger pieces of mushrooms. 2. Substitute 1/4 cup beef goop for 1/4 water. 3. Use 4 oz. sour cream instead of cream cheese. 4. Add 1/2 t. pepper for a tiny little (just necessary) kick. 4. Simply before calculation the sour cream, mix 1 T. corn starch with ii T. cold h2o, then add this mixture to stroganoff. This gives it the necessary extra thickness. So, savor this FABULOUSLY succulent and simple to brand dish!

Wow! For my hubby and I to agree that a dish is worthy of 5 stars is very rare. This was a great comfort food dinner, perfect after a very long day, and then easy to make. And I accept never made homemade stroganoff before! I made some changes, based on Jillybean14'south review, who summed upwards the 500+ reviews on hither (cheers!). To do what Jillybean did, and relieve others some time, here is what all these reviews say to do: ane)Add some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. two) Double the meat. three) Double the soup and water but keep worchestshire and cream cheese the aforementioned. iv)Add together 1/ii packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Melt on LOW only for 5 hours. half dozen) Add a dollop of sour cream also when adding cream cheese. seven) Add together sauteed fresh mushrooms (about 4-six oz) 1/2 hr earlier serving. eight) Serve over egg noodles. I followed these suggestions, and now my married man, who is a large fan of Hamburger Helper, wants this instead and thinks I am the stroganoff goddess. =) A keeper for the recipe box! I will make this often.

I think I've found my new favorite condolement nutrient. This was really good. I used 2 pounds of round steak (just don't like stew meat), two cans of golden mushroom soup, added some onion soup mix (for flavour), and 1/2 cup water (I like gravy). To help the cream cheese melt easier, cube and soften it earlier adding. I like the thought of using cream cheese rather than the traditional sour cream considering if you're lucky enough to have leftvovers, it reheats nicer than sour foam. I can't await to brand it again!

It really irks me when i come on hither to get a skilful recipe with a good rating and people's reviews are all well-nigh the changes they made. I dont have fourth dimension to read everyones reviews with all the changes to make this recipe "amend'. Rate the recipes as is and if yous have modifications or change then post a new recipe!!!!!!!

5 stars for a nifty easy recipe for the busy on-the-get parent! Doubled the sauce!!! Added 1/ii tsp of fresh minced garlic, i/2 packet of dry Italian-style salad dressing and 1/2 packet of Lipton's dry onion/ beefy/ mushroom soup mix to give the stroganoff actress flavor complication. Subbed low sodium beef goop for the water, and low sodium worcestershire for the regular. Added sauteed mushrooms i/2 hour prior to the finish and stirred in sour foam to taste prior to serving! Helpful hint: Check the intensity of your crockpot as some are "hotter" than others and yous may non need to cook the stroganoff the full 8 hours as the recipe lists. Thanks Jessica - great recipe!
01/29/2002
This tastes really skillful, but I institute that because I floured and browned the meat (which naturally thickens the sauce) and added fresh mushrooms (which absorb a LOT of moisture), I increased the water to a full cup and still would have been happy with a thinner sauce. I liked the season enough to give this another try - this time no mushrooms and with a full soup can of h2o. I also think I'll utilise traditional sour cream instead - the cream cheese tasted very good, but I think the texture of the sour cream will accommodate my tastes amend. That's the beauty of this recipe - it's a swell place to take off & tinker to your preferences!

Give thanks Y'all! THANK Yous! Thank You lot! My hubby is the pickiest eater there is and he loved this. Hamburger Helper Stroganoff has been my husband's favorite since he was a little boy. I hated making it but did for him, till concluding dark, I put my foot down and told I wanted to try this recipe. He hates mushroom and I did not really think he would like information technology. He ate a HUGE bowl at dinner, then pulled out the leftovers shortly before going to bed and ate Some other HUGE Bowl. He told me he like this more than his favorite stroganoff. I used some of the other suggestions. I keep the meat(1 lb.), worcestershire(1 tbls.), and foam cheese(four oz) the same. I doubled the soup(two cans) and water(1/2 cup).I omitted the onions (husband hates them) simply I did add one-half a pack of the lipton onion soup mix. Thank you and so much for this recipe. I am sure I volition be making this for a LONG time.
11/09/2002
Awesome over egg noodles. Replace the water with sherry and substitute 1 packet onion soup mix for the onions. YUMMY!!!
eleven/25/2002
I am thrilled, thrilled, THRILLED to have found this recipe. My hubby loves when I make stroganoff, but I detest all the piece of work involved. Per the other reviewers' suggestions, I used sour cream, equally well as the onion soup packet. Wonderful! I threw in a jar of mushrooms toward the end of cooking - I had a very happy husband! Thank you for the Piece of cake and delicious recipe!
09/15/2006
I admittedly loved this recipe! It was soooo easy, AND, much better than other stroganoff recipes that I have used (I've used one recipe that called for sour cream, cream cheese, and foam soup.........clogged arteries!!!) I took the advice of some other reviews and I added a packet of dried onion soup mix. When I added the cream cheese at the cease, I also threw in two handfuls of fresh mushrooms. It was the perfect affect. I volition be calculation this recipe to my permanent collection!!
01/02/2011
I fabricated this for the offset fourth dimension last night and followed the recommendations of Jillybean and others. I used: two pounds cubed sirloin steak 2 cans gilt mushroom soup one large chopped onion two cloves garlic minced i/two pound sliced mushrooms i tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup beefiness broth 1 pack onion soup mix iv ounces cream cheese, softened. four ounces sour foam All only cream cheese and sour cream went into the crockpot and cooked for half-dozen hours, served over noodles and it was OMG Skilful! Thanks for sharing
01/27/2009
I am only giving this 4 stars since I did accept the advice of many reviewers and modified the recipe quite a flake. Instead of using a dull cooker, I cooked this in a dutch oven on peak of the stove and it turned out really good. I served it over egg noodles, merely my family unit likes it on rice ameliorate. I dear the add-on of the cream cheese instead of sour foam, as well! Instead of buying exspensive stew meat, I bought a chuck roast and cutting it upward myself. ***Update: I made this again and didn't add the cream cheese due to not having any. Information technology was however delicious. Probably not truly considered stroganoff, though. My family prefers it on rice, too.
10/26/2011
Jessica, give thanks you lot for posting this fantastic base of operations recipe, I like many others did non follow it to the alphabetic character, simply without your recipe wouldnt accept tried information technology at all! I give this 5 stars considering your base recipe is the cornerstone of information technology all! I always read the reviews of whatsoever recipe I am going to effort, and then make my own changes accordingly. I had a few pounds of cube steak that I wanted to use upwardly and make tender, and this fit the bill...I sliced some onions thick and layered them first, and then I cut upward the cube steak, didnt brown or flour it at all....put in half a pack of bulky onion soup, tablespoon of Lea and perrins, cup of water, two cans of golden mushroom soup (we like a thick gravy here, lol) and about a heaping teaspoon of ground pepper....let that all simmer in the crock pot for about 5 hours...then added nearly 8 oz of fresh sliced mushrooms...let it melt on low some other 60 minutes...and then added half a bar of low fatty cream cheese and then 8oz of sour cream...served over wide egg noodles and it was a HUGE hitting in my household of three...made enough that we had it again last night and information technology tasted fifty-fifty better! Dandy use for cube steak btw, a good cheap selection...Thanks again Jessica, this will be a staple in my house this winter!

So many reviewers said follow jillybean14's suggestions - I finally found her on page 45. To assist out, here is what she suggests: (ane) add salt, pepper and garlic, (2)double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worchestershire the same, (iii) use Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hrs. on low (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you lot add the cream cheese to become an actress "tang", (six) add a boullion cube, (seven) add a half bundle of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles (9) add sauteed mushrooms, most 1/2 an hour before serving.
09/05/2002
Great recipe! I did alter it a piffling bit. I used a round steak and coated it with flour and browned it before I put it in the crock pot. I also added a can of beef broth to the mix and used the whole brick of cream cheese. Turns out great every time!
06/26/2007
Husband's showtime words were..."This is crawly." This turned out nifty and was super easy. Perfect for a cold wintertime evening or company! However I did add a few things and made a few simple changes later on looking at a couple of the other recipes. Here is what I did. 1 can of gilded mushroom soup and half tin can of cream of mushroom, whole package of fresh sliced mushrooms, 3 sliced light-green onions and half a chopped xanthous onion. 1 can of beef goop instead of any water. I seasoned the cubed stew beefiness with seasoning salt ( and if you cook it on low for 6-8 hours information technology does NOT toughen up, ours was sooo tender! So save a few bucks and become the stew meat!). Cooked on low for half dozen hours and served over buttered noodles with parsley. I would actually add more mushrooms next time. The last hour I put in viii oz of low fat sour cream and 3 heaping tablespoons of nonfat foam cheese. I then took i tbls of corn starch (you could use flour) and mixed it with milk to thicken the sauce. It was pretty thick already and then I would merely add together information technology if you lot like a thicker sauce. Putting the cream cheese in the last hour gave it plenty of fourth dimension to combine and cook downward so information technology was non chunky. Perfection!!
04/16/2012
I fabricated a lot of changes based on reviews. I use post-obit: two lbs stew meat, two cans gilded cream of mushroom, 1 med onion diced, 2 cloves garlic minced, one beefiness bullion, 2T Worcestershire. Sauce, one pkt onion soup mix, one/2 c.-ish beefiness broth, sliced mushrooms, & 4 oz. cream cheese. Cook 8 hours on low and add cream cheese about 30-60 minutes before serving. I've made this dozens of times and I no longer measure and information technology always turns out neat. Since there is only two of us and I don't want left overs I utilize i lb stew meat, 1 can aureate mushroom soup in a smaller crockpot on low for five-6 hours and everything else the aforementioned and it'south still good.
05/21/2012
Ever on the lookout for cinch slow cooker meals and this was swell, then thank you Jessica and also JILLYBEAN14 and other reviewers. (Given that I followed Jilly's modifications.) Received compliments all around for this. Definitely a keeper to make again, nice comfort fare.
01/12/2011
My husband thought information technology to be a bit bland as far equally season goes, but I just added some more than Worcestershire sauce to the dish once it was washed and information technology tasted a lot better, other than that I merely used sour cream instead of cream cheese and this dish was super yummy! Thanks for the recipe, I'll definitely make information technology again!
11/01/2005
Wow! Only succulent! We will for sure make this again and again. I did all the alterations recommended past other reviewers though. 2 lb stew meat, 2 cans soup, i/2 cup beefiness broth instead of h2o, added salt, pepper and garlic pulverization, ane/2 packet onion soup mix, sauteed mushrooms in butter and added at end and dollop of sour cream. Cooked on low 5 hrs. It was to Dice for! Nosotros served over egg noodles with a side of boiled potatoes with a butter/dill sauce. Its also great warmed up the next day!
09/06/2010
And I have never made homemade stroganoff earlier! I fabricated some changes, based on Jillybean14's review, who summed upwardly the 500+ reviews on hither (thank you!). To do what Jillybean did, and salvage others some time, here is what all these reviews say to exercise: 1)Add some salt, pepper, and garlic to the pot. 2) Double the meat. iii) Double the soup and h2o but go on worchestshire and foam cheese the aforementioned. iv)Add 1/2 packet onion soup mix to mixture. 5)Cook on LOW only for 5 hours. 6) Add a dollop of sour cream also when calculation cream cheese. vii) Add together sauteed fresh mushrooms (nigh 4-six oz) 1/2 60 minutes before serving. 8) Serve over egg noodles.
01/26/2014
I plant this recipe v years agone and just at present deciding I should add my two cents - I like to recall I've perfected information technology, somewhat. For the more picky cook, it helps to dark-brown your beef. No need to, but it definitely brings out more flavor. We're two guys so one pound of beef just doesn't cut information technology for wanting to take this for dinner for a few nights, so I sometimes double or triple the recipe, particularly if nosotros're having company. I toss in a chip more than extra worcestershire sauce, like about one tablespoon extra. I've spent quite a flake of time in Russian federation and can tell you this little recipe would (and HAS) satisfied a picky Russian... and those Russians know their stroganoff! ;-) As others take said, a cube of beef bouillon doesn't injure but if you think it needs more seasoning, go for it! I ever add together a touch of Cajun seasoning to spice information technology up a flake, but I accept Cajun roots so, that'south merely me. Finally, I E'er add mushrooms near the end. Have an 8oz or more pack of baby bellas, slices em upwards, toss them in a pan and sauté with some butter, then set aside. In the terminal 60 minutes or 2 of cooking, toss them in and stir. Seriously, you lot gotta practise this. Information technology adds the authentic stroganoff gustatory modality and texture and jacks up the recipe a bit if you're feeding a hungry family. Excellent recipe - this recipe is the reason I've become a slow cooker guy and I'd dearest to meet the person who posted it and shake their easily or give 'em a hug. It's just that skillful!!
12/01/2011
See JillyBean14'southward Review which I copied here: I read almost all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To relieve everyone else some fourth dimension, here'southward what they say to do (and what I did...and it came out great): (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but go along the foam cheese and worcestershire the aforementioned, (3) use Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you lot add the cream cheese to get an actress "tang", (six) add together a bullion cube, (seven) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (viii) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms most ane/two an hour earlier serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, but I trusted others and I recall information technology helped. Great slow-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Meal so just boiled the purse to reheat. Information technology was great the second time around! The but affair I did differently was skip the onion soupd mix - can't stand information technology. Whole family LOVED this recipe. Highly recommend it!!
xi/12/2005
I cannot believe this is 5 stars. My hubby and I did not similar this at all. I take been cooking since I was twelve and I am known by family unit and friends to exist an awesome cook, and then I was a little embarrassed when hubby asked me not to brand this once again.
02/27/2007
I made this using the exact recipe. Because of my work schedule mine ended up cooking on low for about 10 hours. My only regret is that for some reason my onions never got soft. Next time I'll saute them a bit outset. The ingredients were unproblematic, and we liked the end outcome. Nosotros'll definately exist making this once more!
01/29/2003
Okay this is a practiced basic recipe. I double the recipe. Used half golden mushroom and half roasted garlic cream of mushroom soup. Added one packet beefy onion soup mix. Also added some cooking sherry (1/4 cup). An hour or then before serving, added fresh sliced mushrooms (nearly 1.5 cups).
10/27/2011
I took some of the suggestions from other readers and added some extra mushrooms and more meat. I used the golden mushroom soup and besides added a can of beefy mushroom soup and eliminated the suggestion of onion soup. I added some pepper and garlic. I did not use Cream Cheese as I don't care for the cream cheese flavor in casseroles - it just seems to overpower everything else. I used virtually a cup of sour cream as I had a lot of sauce. If I were to get in again, I'd probably not use the second tin of soup as there was just so much sauce. That said, husband and I enjoyed this a lot and I'll probably make information technology again with a few adjustments to strive for that 5th. star.
02/01/2010
this is actually proficient AS LONG AS Yous MAKE THE Following CHANGES: (Jillybean14 read all the reviews and summarized the changes that needed to be made. These are her changes) two pounds cubed beefiness stew meat 2 cans gilded mushroom soup 1/2 loving cup chopped onion ane/2 parcel of dry out onion soup mix one tablespoon worcestershire sauce 1/ii loving cup h2o 4 ounces cream cheese spoonful of sour cream Follow the directions listed on the recipe. Add a chip of table salt, pepper & garlic to the pot along with everything else. Stir in spoonful of sour foam at the same fourth dimension y'all stir in cream cheese. my 4 year former and two yr old couldn't become plenty of this. I served it over wide-cutting egg noodles. Information technology was done in exactly 5 hours on low. I will definitely make this again. remember - don't sub the gilded mushroom soup. it has to be golden mushroom.
01/07/2015
Extremely bland, and the foam cheese left little chunks because of combining information technology with heat (didn't consider at the time).
eleven/14/2006
I'm non sure what went wrong, but mine burned to the bottom! I followed the directions exactly! Did anyone else accept this problem????
01/18/2003
The premise of this recipe is fine but it lacks seasoning. I added 1 TBL actress worstershire, one/3 loving cup white wine, 1 TBL dijon mustard, .5 TSP stale dill, .75 TSP nutmeg, salt and pepper, ane can drained mushrooms. I also substituted light sour foam for cream cheese. It was fantabulous.
eleven/07/2010
Crawly. I similar simple recipes with a lot of leftovers, so I read over some reviews and came up with this. 2lbs stew meat, iii cans Golden Mushroom soup, 4oz foam cheese, 1/4 loving cup sour cream, 1tbs Worcestershire sauce, and instead of onions or water, I substituted in a can of french onion soup. This besides eliminated the onion soup mix. Pepper to taste. I LITERALLY dropped everything in the crockpot on high and went to work for 5 hours. Came back later on, prepared the noodles and spooned over the yummy mixture. Super easy, super yum.
03/05/2014
I tried this adding viii oz. of mushrooms,a cup of red wine and 2 tbsp. of beef bullion. I seared the meat, browning information technology but not fully cooking it. All-time stroganoff we've e'er had.
08/20/2005
Amazing, this is so admittedly wonderful, very easy. The cream cheese was lumpy though, adjacent fourth dimension I will take out some sauce and whisk the cream cheese into that and so add to the mixture. I also added 2tbsp of sour cream, sauteed mushrooms, salt pepper, garlic and boullion. I would double the recipe if you lot are making this for 4 or more adults. Thank you for a great recipe.
10/20/2011
My hubby said this is the best stroganoff he has ever had. I used ground meat instead of the cube meat (only because my kids volition swallow the ground meat). I also could not detect golden mushroom soup so I used roasted garlic and mushroom soup instead. And I used beef goop in place of the water. The gustation was wonderful and I volition be making this version from at present on.
04/22/2009
I read almost all of the reviews and made modifications based on them; and here they are (and what I did...and it came out absolutely delicious!): (ane) add together salt, pepper, and 3 cloves minced garlic, (two) double the soup (3) use Golden Mushroom, NOT foam of mushroom! (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-six hours on low, (v) employ 2 oz cream cheese and a dollop sour cream (vi) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half bundle of onion soup mix (eight) add sautéed mushrooms well-nigh 1/two an hour earlier serving. Mine came out rather thin, and so information technology might help if you lot coat the meat in flour earlier cooking it. Oh, and I used Venison instead of beef, and none of my family could tell. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, only I trusted the other reviews and I'm glad I did! 5 stars to the modified recipie, but three to this basic (and rather bland) recipie! (Special thanks to Jillybean14 and MomSavedbyGrace!)
07/15/2005
I love stroganoff but was looking for a new recipe for it. This recipe was excellent!!! I used 2 cans of soup and as well added 1/two pkg. of onion soup mix and 1 can of beef broth instead of water. The beef was and then tender. I tin't look to make it again! Thanks Jessica!
11/24/2009
Always looking for something new to brand cause the simpler information technology is the ameliorate my husband likes it. We both enjoyed this meal, I had a parcel of beef ribs in the freezer I used for the meat. I almost forget the foam cheese and because it wasn't thick at that indicate, I added about a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the gravy, then I remembered the cream chesse. I like mushrooms, he doesn't then I sauteed them and put them on my portion only. Both of the states were happy! I'll be adding this to my recipes. Thank yous for sharing!
09/07/2009
So Good!! Cooked overnight on low in the crock pot. I left it on warm until dinner time. Doubled the recipe since I only had a 2 1/2 lb roast instead of the stew meat. Simply, really adept anyways.
10/14/2002
This is a practiced, easy recipe, although I practice call up that information technology's missing something. Information technology needs some spices to jazz information technology up. I volition brand information technology once again, merely the next time I will add together oregano and maybe some flour to thicken the gravy. I'll also double the recipe, since it made enough for my hubby and I to share for dinner with a little left over for his lunch the next day. I used sour cream instead of cream cheese. Rather than adding the cream to the crock pot, I served it on the side so we could add together as much or as little as we wanted. I found that it was just as good without. I served this over egg noodles which I adopt (more hearty). My hubby gave this a 7 on a scale of 1-10.
06/09/2011
I followed the first reviewer's suggestions. They were slap-up. Added pepper and 3 cloves garlic. Doubled the soup and h2o. Exercise not use Cream of Mushroom. Reduced the cooking time to well-nigh 6 hours on low and 1/2 60 minutes on loftier. Added a "dollup" of sour foam when I added the cream cheese. Added a beef bullion cube. Added a half package of onion soup mix. Added 8 oz packet of sauteed mushrooms i/2 hour before serving. Served over egg noodles. Absolutely loved it! The beef was so tender and the sauce was tasty! I too served it with bread to soak upward the extra sauce. I froze the leftovers.
03/25/2002
WOW!! A real keeper! I added canned mushrooms, table salt and pepper. At the cease I added the foam cheese (3 oz) first and so added about a 1/iv cup of sour cream. I think the combo of the cream cheese and sour foam is perfect.
10/02/2006
Made this for the showtime time for company, and information technology was a striking! I used 2lbs. bottom circular steak cutting into cubes, 2 cans gilt mush soup, i/2 parcel dry onion soup mix, and sauted 6 oz sliced fresh mushrooms, and poured it in pot with juices, and a little xtra cream cheese since I used 2 cans soup. Followed recipe for the rest. Served over buttered noodles with a side of green peas, and bread for dipping upwardly the succulent gravy! Tin't go wrong with this winner...
04/22/2011
Very good, substituted beef goop for h2o, added some granulated garlic, and substituted sour cream for foam cheese.Served over egg noodles.
04/10/2010
this recipe is perfect the way it is. to everyone that feels the need to rate it based on changes that they have fabricated personally, why don't you submit your ain recipe and charge per unit this one for what it is? how insulting. and, lastly, cheers, jessica! our family (of half dozen) all love this recipe exactly like you wrote information technology!
08/09/2003
This recipe was very good. I made just equally information technology was written. Next time I will utilise sour cream instead of cream cheese and I will try white wine in place of the water.
02/05/2014
I don't normally intendance for beef stroganoff; yet, I made this last night (with the recommendations from billyjean14)and loved it. I am reposting the recommendations from billyjean14 that I followed: I read most all of the 400+ reviews and made modifications based on them. To relieve anybody else some fourth dimension, hither's what they say to exercise (and what I did...and information technology came out great): (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce merely proceed the cream cheese and worcestershire the aforementioned, (3) employ Gilt Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hours on depression, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when yous add together the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour earlier serving. I know this isn't true to the original recipe, simply I trusted others and I think it helped. Smashing boring-cooker recipe. I froze the leftovers (egg noodles and all) in my Seal-a-Repast and then just boiled the bag to reheat. It was great the second fourth dimension around!
12/28/2014
I don't think I volition always brand beef stroganoff with sour cream again. This was so delicious and both me, my fiance and best friend said information technology was amazing! I did brand a couple of adjustments merely pretty much stuck to the recipe. I used 2lbs of meat, 2 cans of the aureate mushroom soup and added some chicken bullion powder, garlic salt, steak firm seasoning and some pepper. I didn't measure out 1/2 cup of onion; instead I simply used one-half of a large xanthous onion and finally added a third of a 16oz parcel chopped mushrooms. Right before I added the foam cheese I sauted the remainder of the mushrooms and added to the crock pot. So added the 4oz of foam cheese. I took out a large corporeality (about half or a little more than) of the liquid in the crockpot and boiled information technology in a sauce pan, adding a teeny bit of butter (less and then a tbsp) and some corn starch until it thickened up a bit and poured information technology back into the crockpot, turned off the heat and permit sit for virtually 10 minutes to go along thickening. Served over egg noodles and was amazing! I am making some tonight and am going to serve it with some grilled asparagus.
09/05/2014
I made this recipe as written in the showtime and though it very bland. Tried to spice it up with garlic powder, onion pulverisation and pepper, nonetheless not very flavorful, although we did like it. Sorry, but I have to give it only 3 stars.
09/04/2003
I concord with the previous reviewer: this dish has little taste. The recipe is sorely lacking in seasoning and creating season depth. The one thing I did similar was how tender the meat came out through the tedious cooking process. Seasonings are actually needed, such as salt and pepper, garlic, beefiness bouillon and/or broth, perchance fifty-fifty a affect of love apple paste. I as well call back that browning the meat and onions (equally well as mushrooms) would result in a much fuller season, and so I'll do that adjacent fourth dimension. And, the cream cheese simply does non work in stroganoff – sour cream would much amend and authenticate this dish. Although I wasn't impressed, it's definitely a dish I can tinker with. : ) Folks - see "Daria's Wearisome Cooker Beef Stroganoff" on this site. That recipe looks MUCH meliorate.
09/28/2010
OK this is an crawly base of operations recipe. Every bit I was reading the other reviews and preparing it, I did make some suggested adjustments. My family asked for this all the time. (1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but proceed the foam cheese and worcestershire the aforementioned, (3) use Golden Mushroom or don't brand this at all, (four) reduce the cooking time to nearly 5-half-dozen hours on depression, (5) add a "dollup" of sour foam when y'all add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a beef bullion cube, (7) add a one-half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour before serving.
07/28/2011
This was actually really good! I doubled the sauce simply left the worcestershire and foam cheese the same. Had it two nights in a row and information technology was delicious.
12/07/2011
Doubled, and also added one/2 cup red wine, LOTS of pepper, and fresh garlic. Y U M Chiliad Y!!!
09/06/2011
This is my to the lowest degree favorite Stroganoff recipe that I have made. I adopt regular cream of mushroom soup over the golden mushroom soup in this recipe. I would definitely recommend doubling the sauce mixture equally the recipe equally written didn't make enough for 4 servings.
09/30/2005
I fabricated a double batch of this the commencement time. I am expecting our first baby, so I wanted to put some meals in the freezer. I split up information technology and froze it in two divide foodsaver bags to make reheating in humid h2o easy. Nosotros had it terminal night. It's Fabled. Since I made a double batch, I took some suggestions from previous reviewers. I added a package of onion soup mix, some garlic and two jars of mushrooms. I also browned the meat before flinging information technology in the dull cooker. I cooked it on depression for viii hours. It reheats beautifully. Nosotros weren't sure nigh the foam cheese, only it really is quite good! Try this ane with no reservations. Will brand over and over once more (I'g going to make a lot since I have a huge slow cooker.)

I seasoned my beef prior to putting in the wearisome cooker with paprika, garlic powder and s&p. I also added a beef burgoo cube for extra season. Next time may add the onion soup mix to meet how it tastes. Added sauteed mushrooms about 45 minutes before it was finished. Overall it was really yummy. My merely complaint is that meat was a fiddling tough though (cooked 8 hours on low).

Served this for dinner concluding dark. My whole crew..fifty-fifty my picky daughter loved it..yay!! I had some left over grilled steak that I used, rather than the stew meat. I didn't have golden mushroom soup, so I used reg. mushroom soup. I added a package of french onion soup mix, garlic, basil & paprika. I used beef broth, rather than water. I cooked on low for 4 hours. I didn't encounter y'all weren't supposed to add the foam cheese until the stop, only it still turned out swell. I served over homestyle noodles & topped with fresh basil. Volition definitely brand once again. Thanks for sharing!

I jazzed this recipe up, following the advice of some others. First, I coated the beef with the flour, table salt, and pepper and browned information technology. I added beef broth instead of water; I eliminated the onion and used a packet of onion soup mix instead; I also added 1 Tbs. of tomato paste and ane Tbs. of horseradish. I placed fresh thyme and sage while it was cooking, but removed them when I added ii oz. of onion and chive foam cheese and ii oz. sour cream.

Great! Extremely easy - there is cypher to this, I kept on staring at the recipe to see what I was forgetting to exercise/add to the pot just didn't find anything. Sometimes I retrieve we forget that simple make-up leads to severely simple tastes extroadinaire! Perfect consistency and perfectly delicious! I through in some carrots and added a little cumin to the slow cooker then served with some egg noodles that I coated with butter and salt. Next time I might throw in some potatoes into the slow cooker with the stroganoff for more of a stew like all-in-one meal. Note I employ egg noodles b/c my husband prefers noodles to rice nonetheless, I call back this would be crawly over rice. Delicioso!

This was Excellent!!! I doubled the sauce, added mushrooms, garlic and more worch. Had with egg noodles. I'1000 starting to endeavour to eat healthier... and then I prob won't make this likewise much but this will be one of my spoiled recipes.
01/17/2004
Turned out peachy...As per prior suggestion, I substitued beefiness broth for the h2o in the original recipe. I also substituted the aureate mushroom for Campbells Condensed Mushroom with Garlic for a niggling extra boot. I browned the meat first for about 5 min., and so cooked on loftier in crockpot for about v hours. Cheers for the recipe!

Succulent & Like shooting fish in a barrel TO MAKE! My adjustments: one 1/2# Circular Steak, 24 oz can Foam of Mushroom Soup, Onion (sm/med), one T Worcestershire Sauce, ane/2 c water + 1 beefiness bouillion cube, Pkt of Onion Soup Mix, S & P + garlic table salt. ADDED ALL THESE INGREDIENTS TO CROCK POT ON Low FOR five 1/ii HOURS. So ADDED: 8 oz tin Mushrooms, ane/two brick of Cream Cheese, iv (tablespoon size) dollops of Sour Cream. COOKED ANOTHER 1/two Hr. Served over Egg Noodles.
04/22/2011
Fabricated this for my family unit coming over for dinner. Had no Gilt Mushroom so only used the regular Cream of Mushroom soup and it was still great. Anybody gobbled it downward. Served with homemade broad noodles and garnished with a petty sour cream and parsley. I wonder if the Golden Mushroom soup would accept made that much of a difference.
01/18/2014
I never use my dull cooker because I feel like I'1000 adulterous in the kitchen, haha ha. (impaired huh?) I followed MomSavedbyGraces changes and loved it. Next I volition try the deadening cooker pepper steak.
07/27/2010
i made the original recipe and wasnt crazy over it, thought information technology was bland, so i tweaked iti used two cans of condensed onion soup since i dont like mushrooms in the first place, but i still added the chopped onion since i idea it added a bit of freshness to it. Also used half sour cream half cream cheese, to get it out of my fridge, and added some garlic, black pepper and simply a few drops of hot sauce, and put it over some white rice. not a traditional stroganoff, but it tasted nice, and since im never home its dainty to have something you can dump in and leave for a few hours.
12/22/2010
So good, I took everybody's suggestions and used half foam cheese half sour cream and added a whole pack of onion soup mix. so proficient the married man ate two huge bowls of it!
03/16/2014
This recipe was a hit with my zoo crew this evening for supper!! I didn't use fresh onions I adjusted the recipe for 10 servings which made the amount of onions 1 and 1/4 cups of onion...and I take a girl staying at home correct now that is breastfeeding sooo I fabricated a small adjustment I substituted one package of lipton beefy onion soup mix. and only equally I was adding the cream cheese I added some freshly cooked wide egg noodles poured them right in the crock pot and stirred them in dash of table salt and a dash of garlic powder and the kids and adults alike loved this...from my grandbaby who is ii and my dad who is 66 thanks so much!!
10/09/2006
Easy and delicious. I added Lipton Onion Soup as suggested by others instead of an onion and will definitely make this again. It would be good over mashed potatoes also!
03/15/2010
This is one of my favourite recipes. The husband loves it and it's so nice to come dwelling to dinner already fabricated when I walk in the door, only cook some egg noodles and information technology's on the tabular array. I throw this together at night and put the whole crock pot in the refrigerator and just plug it in on my way out the door in the morning.I usually get in with chicken instead of beef, add mushrooms and use herb and garlic flavoured cream cheese.
04/04/2011
I've made this a couple times now and each time theirs never whatsoever leftovers! The recipe is GREAT AS IS. Don't worry if you lot don't have whatsoever golden mushroom soup considering the only difference is the added mushrooms. And so if you lot similar mushrooms in yours just add some towards the end, unless you lot use fresh ones, then yous tin put them in in the commencement. The only affair I changed was to add garlic salt. We love salty nutrient and I cook with garlic in but about everything! Cheers for a great easy comfort nutrient!
08/20/2013
This recipe as is its bland and overcooked. If yous have to add together 15 things to go far edible then this recipe should never have gotten the rating it has. Save your food and make something else.
01/16/2011
Yummy! I doubled the original recipe and added a can of mushrooms, salt, pepper, garlic, crushed red pepper, and a big dollop of sour cream. Served over egg noodles. Hubby an I LOVED it! it was very easy and smelled great cooking on a chilly winter day, i will exist making this again.
02/17/2015
Tried this twice... Once as written and one time again with modifications. Every bit written, it's a good basic recipe. With additions that I made, it's outstanding. Add together 1/2 pkt onion soup mix, one/4 cup red vino and a good sprinkle of garlic powder. Cooked i lb frozen venison steaks on loftier for four hours. Shredded the meat and added the foam cheese. Dynamite! Couldn't stop licking the spoon :)
x/30/2011
This recipe is great as is! The only other matter I added was pepper. You guys are basics to add onion soup mix to this when there is already 700 milligrams of sodium per serving. Plenty of flavor without it.
07/17/2011
The original recipe seemed a bit plain so I added sauteed mushrooms, extra onions, and some garlic. This probably helped a little. I enjoyed the sauce a lot. The meat wasn't every bit tender equally I would have thought (cooked 5 hours on high), and then next time I think I'll use ground beef...
03/04/2010
one give-and-take...AMAZING!! I followed JILLYBEAN14'south review exactly...the only affair i volition change next time is to non add extra common salt.
11/06/2012
Yummy! I made this with no changes except I got in a bustle and put the foam cheese in at the outset time instead of at the terminate. It however worked out! And thanks to the Buzz folks that assured me it would exist fine despite my error.
02/23/2010
Loved it. I practise add a piddling Burgundy Wine to give it an authentic Stroganoff flavor. I besides use half cream cheese and one-half sour cream.
02/10/2003
This recipe was fantastic! I doubled the recipe for my large, hungry family and in that location was just plenty left over for my hubby to take to piece of work the next day for dejeuner. I fabricated a few changes based on other users comments. I added i/iv loving cup cooking sherry & a pkg of onion soup mix and the result was very flavorful. I will definately be making this again at the request of my family.
02/25/2014
We ALL loved this!
10/12/2008
I rated this recipe only 3 stars because this recipe had to be adjusted to JELLYBEAN14 recommendations to meet the the 5 star quality. With JELLYBEAN14 modifications the Beef Stroganoff was five stars "The All-time!". Here are JELLYBEAN14 recommendations & Thanks again ;-) (i) add together table salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce only continue the cream cheese and worcestershire the same, (iii) use Golden Mushroom, non Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking fourth dimension to about 5-half dozen hours on low, (5) add together a "dollup" of sour foam when you add the foam cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add together a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour earlier serving.
11/27/2011
This was a wow for united states, especially with such simple ingrediants. I always make as-is the first time; I might add together some h2o chestnuts next time around just for some texture dissimilarity. But it is succulent and uncomplicated just every bit-written!
11/10/2014
We liked this a lot. Took the communication of others and used aureate mushroom soup and added beefiness flavoring and other seasonings!
02/25/2014
So And then good! My husband absolutely loved information technology, too. A huge winner that will be in regular rotation. I did use JILLYBEAN14's suggestions, withal, then I really can't comment on the recipe on top. The just affair that I could retrieve of to make this ameliorate is to double the recipe so there are enough of leftovers! :)
02/25/2014
I followed exactly and I thought it was but okay. Looked corking, smelled keen...tasted okay.
12/30/2009
I made this earlier and thought information technology was banal. So this fourth dimension I followed other reviewers and put everyone's review together and created the all-time stroganoff always! I used ii cans mushroom soup fresh mushrooms 1/2 cup sour cream one/2 cup cream cheese i loving cup water with beef bouillon cube 1 tsp thyme 1 tsp parsley 1 Tb garlic powder 1/2 TB salt & ane parcel dried onion soup mix. and nosotros served it over egg noodles. We all loved information technology! So thanks for the good base recipe and thank y'all to the other reviewers!
10/16/2011
Read numerous reviews and took their suggestions and this was really, really expert. I will actually employ sixteen oz. mushrooms (read reviews) adjacent time every bit that was my favorite part. I could eat the sauce with just mushrooms and be content but my husband would miss the beef. Cheers for the recipe!
07/12/2007
This stroganoff was excellent! I take tips to cut the time manner down in making this. 1st, read Jillybean'southward & momsavedbygrace's reveiws on what to exercise different with ingredients. In addition to the higher up changes, I did the following with mine: i) used TENDERIZED ROUND STEAK instead of stew meat. THIS IS And then IMPORTANT FOLKS!! You can cook stew meat until the cows come up home & it will rarely get really tender. My mom buys pre-tenderized round steak and uses information technology in stews and similar dishes; information technology always turns out fantastic. But cube the meat yourself in v minutes & yous'll shave hours off the cook time. 2)I added onion & garlic powder, table salt & pepper three) Added about a TBSPN of beef granuals iv) One viii oz bundle of pre-sliced mushrooms, sauteed in cooking spray & 1 TBSPN or and then of Olivio. Don't sautee mushrooms until they were soggy; leave a petty texture and bite to them as the soup mushrooms tend to disappear. 5) Added one very generous dallop of fat free sour cream (employ Breakstones; yous'll never miss the fat). I accept a new KitchenAid slow cooker which might be a little more than efficient than most but I think the meat is the central to less cook time. I cooked this for an hour & 15min on high, then 2 hours on slightly higher than depression. Information technology was perfect in 3 hours, 20 minutes (probably was done sooner simply I wasn't dwelling house to check information technology). Tossed in the mushrooms right before serving as well equally cream cheese and sour cream; no further cooking needed once that dissovles. FABULOUS!
03/07/2011
I prepared this recipe exactly as written - simply fair to exercise information technology this way if I'm going to rate it. When I think of stroganoff I recall of a creamy sauce with a sour cream season and this recipe was not even a little bit creamy creamy just more gravy like. The aureate mushroom soup almost gives it a bit of a bite/tartness that I didn't intendance for at all - personal preference. The recipe calls for 8 hours on depression, which I did, but this was way too long equally the gravy like sauce and meat were overcooked and slighly burned. This is non a recipe I will try again.
04/12/2003
This is a cracking recipe!!!! It is super piece of cake and tastes fabulous! I would simply count on 2 servings. . . not iv!
01/17/2012
I was excited to endeavor this specially with such high ratings. I guess we are out of the norm here. My DH and I both agree that this just wasn't that good. Maybe it's considering I don't commonly melt with canned cream soups. This is basically meat and soup. I will stick with my old standby recipe starting with a roux. Sorry.
12/23/2002
Very delicious and easy to prepare. I used strips of steak and I took the advice of others and used low-fat cream of mushroom soup and substituted cooking sherry for the h2o. Then two hours before serving, I stirred in fresh mushrooms. I used the low-cal cream cheese to stir in before serving, and so served light sour foam on the tabular array to exist used equally desired. My stroganoff was served over a bed of fluffy white rice and made for a cute, delicious dinner. I highly recommend.
01/23/2011
My husband and I actually liked this recipe. I took some of the communication of others simply non all... I basically doubled the meat, the gold mushroom soup, the water and worcestershire sauce. About an hour before information technology was washed, I added a package of sliced fresh mushrooms to the crockpot. I kept the cream cheese the same (4 oz) and added 4 oz of sour foam. It produced a lot of liquid so next time I may even utilize 3 lbs of meat.
eleven/15/2011
Delicious! I made with 1 lb. of beef, 2 cans of gilt mushroom soup, two cloves of garlic, a whole onion and about 1/2 packet of Lipton onion soup, i TBS. worcestershire sauce, 4 ounces of cream cheese and ane/iv c. beefiness boullion plus a couple T. water.
09/09/2014
Sour cream much amend than cream cheese,, very dry
06/09/2008
Coming from a German language-Russian family beef stroganoff has been a staple for as long every bit I tin remember. I have a couple timeless recipes that are amend- just more time consuming. I will hang on to this when I am looking for something quick- which is pretty often. Information technology came out great with all of the changes that were suggested in previous reviews- thank you JILLYBEAN14 for putting them all together. Information technology saved a lot of fourth dimension. The but modify I made was to add one can of Golden Mushroom and on of Foam of Mushroom when doubling the sauce. Serve with bootleg egg noodles if you have them available... so much ameliorate than shop bought!
03/05/2011
this was the best recipes for stroganoff my husband and I e'er had. Offset I sub. 1/4 cup of beef goop for the 1/4 cup water then..I added some fresh mushrooms about i hour before cookin was finished and used sour cream instead of the cream cheese just before serving. and added 1/two tsp pepper for kick merely earlier adding the sour foam I added 1 tbsp of corn starch mixed w/ 2tsp of water for thickness. It was wonderful
01/17/2005
OK, I alterd this recipe a little afterward reading several reviews and it was Awesome! I used one lb of lean beef stew meat, ii cans gilded mushroom soup, i entire tin of beefiness goop, i small can of sliced mushrooms, i/ii onion and 1 TBSN of Worcheshire. I put it in the crock pot on high for one hour then turned it downwards for four-v more. I stirred in 1/2 C of sour cream at the cease and information technology was amazing served over egg noodles. Endeavour IT - YOU Volition LOVE It!
03/17/2010
Nosotros love this and have made it several times. First time I made information technology I used cream cheese, 2d time - a combination of cream cheese and sour cream. While the cream cheese is fine, I think the tartness of the sour cream is far better. I do double the meat and quadruple the sauce considering it tastes so smashing on those noodles and leftovers are wonderful.
